Inquiry

We have been looking at Social Justice and we had to create our own inquiry and using your own open questions about children in other countries who have less. What I enjoyed about doing my inquiry was that I got to learn more about Afghanistan. Next time I could add more infformation.

Is Graffiti Art or Messy?

Graffiti can be messy and expensive to clean up but I think it’s art because it just spices up our cities and towns and it’s just a way of someone trying to express their talent to the world. In the United Kingdom graffiti is illegal, people can be fined a lot of money if they are caught graffiting on public property. However, some towns and cities have walls that are blank, these are places where graffiti is legal. Blank walls are created to stop people doing graffiti in other places. Also, in Colombia graffiti is very popular even though it is illegal too. Some people think of big, beautiful and colourful artwork when they hear the word Graffiti, while others think of messy and untidy art.

Graffiti can be just someone trying to tell a message to the world. In some people's eyes they find some graffiti art offensive and disrespectful while others think the complete opposite. You’d wonder why little children want to tag their names on fences because it’s illegal and you never know a tag can turn into a beautiful piece of art that could become famous. That’s why I strongly believe that Graffiti is Art.

I enjoyed doing this activity because I got to learn more about the Community of Disciples in a fun way. Next time I will make it look more interesting.

The Tree of Lies

Miss Wilton had put up a photo of 2 girls facing a blank canvas and we were told to draw a picture of what the girls could be looking at and write a story about it. What I enjoyed about this was that we got to be creative. Next time I'll be more creative in my drawing.

Many of years ago, there lived a small family of 4 in a house by the beach in Texas. The small family was quiet, in this family there was Chris the father, Leah the mother, Camilla the oldest daughter who was 16 and Kate the youngest daughter who was 12. One day, Camilla wanted to go to a concert her friend Becca had been talking about, but it was far away. Camilla hadn’t asked her parents for permission, but Becca bought the tickets anyways, so she went and asked her parents if she could go and they said NO!!. Camilla acted so angry it looked like she was going to blow. She stomped her way into her room and quickly took off the robe she was wearing over her clothes she was going to wear to the concert and snuck out of the window.  Along that, outside stood tall a tree but the weird thing about it is that it only had two leaves on it. What you're going to hear about this tree is weird and different. Before Camilla’s family had moved in, a genuine use to live in this house. He had children, naughty children and he was sick of them lying to him so he granted a wish and said may this tree be the Tree of Lies. Which means that when his children lie to him a leaf falls off the tree and when all the leafs have fallen down something bad would happen to them. I know you're thinking why would a father want to do that to his kids, but as a solo parent to 5 children he just couldn’t handle it. He also granted that anyone who lives there and if they lie they will go through what his children went through.

7 years after that the genuine died and had no chance of warning Camilla’s family about his wishes. The next day Camilla’s parents called Camilla down for breakfast. When Camilla came down she put her sad face on, her parents looked at her and said ‘we’re sorry you couldn’t go to the concert’, she looked down at her food and said ‘it’s alright but I really wanted to go’. At that moment a leaf fell off and Camilla and the family had no idea that something bad was heading Camilla’s way. It had been three days since the first leaf had fallen off and there was one more leaf and then something really bad would happen. Becca had contacted Camilla saying to go check out this online shopping website, Camilla went to use the laptop to check this website out but her sister Kate was on it.  Camilla asked to go on it and Kate said “NO” then they started arguing about it. A few seconds after that, Camilla violently smacked Kate and then Kate started crying. The two parents ran into the room and saw Kate crouching down on the floor with her hand on her face. Chris and Leah asked who started it and Camilla said Kate, the last leaf weaved itself down. The tree of lies looked like it had been standing there for years, it was black all around and what made it more scarier was that it was pitch black because it was night time. All of a sudden the doorbell rings…..To Be Continued……….

Freedom

W.A.L.T...Use words and picture to convey our thoughts.
In class, our task was to create a picture and a quote about what we should have from freedom. What I enjoyed was that we got to be creative and make up our own pictures and quotes. Maybe next time I could add more details to my pictures.

Climate Change in Tonga

W.A.L.T..Understand the impact of Climate Change is having on communities in parts of Tonga. I enjoyed learning more about my culture. Something I could work on is to add more information and some pictures.

Fair Testing

This term my class has been learning about mould. Then with what we know about mould we did a fair test this means that everything is the same except one thing we had to test to see what on would grow the most mould. These are my results.

Preserving

WALT… Identify that preserving removes one or more of the conditions that fungi and bacteria need for growth. Next time I'll add more countries.

The Legend of The Turtle and Chicken

The past few weeks my class have been writing our own legends. I enjoyed doing this because I got to be creative and write my own legend. My next step is to use show not.

Importance of creation

W.A.L.T ... Recognise that God is Spirit - Wairua and is greater than anything created. I like doing this because I got to put any pictures that I want. Maybe next time I could make it more good.

Maths

W.A.L.T…. solve ”How many sets of”…….. And “sharing” division problems using multiplication.

In our maths group we are learning to share division problems using multiplication. This is one of the maths equation we worked out as a group. I really enjoyed learning about sharing division problems using multiplication. Maybe next time i could add more pictures.

Judy Blume

This week our task was to choose a author of our choice and present it by using google slides. Then we had to create a biography about our author, I chose Judy Blume. I really enjoyed learning about my author. Next time I could add more information.

All Alone

The past two weeks we have been writing two paragraphs about what we see in the photo below.
We had to use descriptive words to show not tell. Next time I will use more descriptive words.

Through the roaring thunder and the howling wind, the man stumbled on to the hard wooden floor. The man was horrified with fear, he didn't know if he was going to see his family again. He prayed and prayed that God help could help him. He could overhear rats scratching against the unfinished painted wooden wall, disgust was creeping through his body. The man was over exhausted, he could get an earful of himself breathing heavily but also he could get a handful of his own heartbeat thumping in his own mind in his ears. As birds flew in the sky from day to night the roaring thunder became a happy sun and the howling wind became a normal wind that would sprint through your hair. 

 As the sun gazed through the dirty windows and made a shadow of a human figure and the fresh wind creeped through the keyhole, the man thought it was time. The man struggled to find his home, but he didn’t want to give up. While the man struggled, he recognise a light blue house that looked familiar to him. The man walked in and he was surprised, the house was as silent as like you were in a exam room. The man was confused, the car was parked outside but no one was inside. Time flyed it was 3:30pm he had been waiting for 2 hours, so he thought he should head back to his cold cabin, as he was going to step outside he got the sound of water splashing in his ears. The man walked to the back door and there was his wife and kids in a warm pool, this brought him to tears. He opened the door and the wife looked at him and it bought her to tears too, the man hugged his family and they all had dinner as a family.

 Our task was to create a DLO choosing an specific animal and explain what it means if an animal is endangered. I chose a cougar,I really enjoyed learning about this amazing animal. Something I can work on next time is to add more infomation

This was fun to make, I really enjoyed it. What was really difficult was trying to explain what the Seeds of the Word means.

Fungi

   W.A.L.T... Identify the life cycle of mould

In class we have been learning about Fungi/Fungus and Mould, our task was to create a DLO to indentify how the life cycle of mould works. Me and Losalio made this slideshow. Maybe next time me and Losalio can add more information.

       

                     

Mould

W.A.L.T... Identify the structure of an explanation text and explore the language features of an explanation text. I enjoy doing this because I get to learn more about mould and I like to write about conclusion. Maybe next time I could make it more interesting. 

My Planning

How mould is formed?

Have you ever been into your bathroom and seen this black greeny stain on the walls and you’ve been  concerned about what it is? Well it’s called  mould and this is my explanation about how mould is formed?

If you are concerned, carry on reading and you will find out.

Mold begins from something called spores.

Spores feed on dead animal or any type of plant, and they love to grow in warm and wet places. Spores are just like seeds they make things grow

Also spores are really small like babies, but the thing is that they don’t need a mum or a dad to be formed.

Then hyphae, hyphae grows at their tips. During tip growth hyphal growth is the feature of a threadlike fungi. From mushrooms to shape, we experience organisms in a wide reach of parts of our lives. Every one of them are made out of modest, full strands called hyphae.

Finally mycelium, mycelium is the plant part of a fungus  made out of a group of branching, it’s like threadlike hyphae. In most fungi, hyphae are the main mode of plant growth, and are basically called a mycelium.

Therefore, mould is always near you there in your bathroom and sometimes there in you room so pretty much mould is everywhere in your house.

Passion Sunday

 In our class we are learning about Passion Sunday, our task was to create a google drawing and explain why Jesus entered Jeruselem and how people welcomed Jesus into Jeruselem. This is my presentation. Maybe next time I could add more drawings.

Holidays

I really enjoyed writing about my holidays. Maybe next time I could come up with descriptive words.

HOLIDAYS

On the first day of day of the school holidays me, my cousin and my sister went to my dad's house. My dad didn’t know that we were going to his house, we wanted to surprise him. On our way my older sister said for us to buy some food for our dad to eat, so we brought KFC. When we got there we surprised him and he was happy to see me.

The next day, my dad called in sick, he wasn’t really sick he just wanted to spend some quality time with us. We went to heaps of places and to me this was the BEST day ever. First we went to Timezone then we went to do some food shopping (and we brought some snacks). Next we went to Mcdonald's and bought some  frozen cokes because my dad told us we were going to go to the big park in town with our little cousins. It was fun playing at the big park especially with my whole family.

Seeing my dad after all these years was a big relief of pain. I was happy but sad at the same time, happy that I finally saw my dad and sad because I have to come back home to my mum and leave him all by himself.I am really happy that I am still in contact with my dad.

Novel Study

Our 'Novel Study' task was to write how our main character has changed in the story. Next time I could work on giving more information.

Sally J Freedman as Herself

How Sally changed was when she first thought about going Florida for the winter season she was scared and sad to leave her dad and friends at home in Miami and come to Florida and go school there for the season.

But as time flies she is trying her best to forget about the sad part and have fun spending time with her brother before his time is done on earth.

Novel Study

Our novel task was to write the conflict of the novel we are reading. Hope you enjoy reading it. 

  

  Starring Sally.J Freedman as herself 

The first conflict is when Sally J. Freedman moves from New Jersey to Miami, Florida with her brother and their mother and grandmother at the end of World War II. This is because of her brother Douglas's health, for he had caught nephritis from staying in wet clothes in the cold. They've moved from New Jersey to Miami for winter.

 Then the second conflict is when Sally was happy to go to Florida, but at the same time she was sad to leave her friends and her dad for the whole winter season. But Sally had to leave because of her brothers health. Luckily her dad is coming for thanksgiving but has to go back home.

Novel Study

Our task was to make a rap or a poem about the novel we are reading. The novel I was reading was called Sally J Freedman written by Judy blume. I really enjoyed reading this book. I hope you like the poem I came up with.

Anzac Puppy

W.A.L.T... Write a falshback a from a different persepctive and use show not tell.
 I really enjoyed making this story because it was fun to create a story linking to Anzac. Next time I would add more describing words.

 Through the flying bullets and blasting bombs, I thought I wouldn’t come back home to my mum who was waiting for me. I was losing friends and I knew I was next, I was scared that I might lose Freda too and not return her back to Lucy. I prayed and prayed that this insane bombing would stop. As time went by my prayers had been answered, the explosions lowered down, flying bullets became happy birds. I could never forget this day and neither can Freda.

My Leadership Creature

Novel Study

This week our task for our Novel Study was to make a board game that will take the players on a journey through the events of our own serial stories. I made a Snakes and Ladders board game, it was really fun making our own board games. Probably next time I could make a more harder game instead of Snakes and Ladders.

Gangster-Locks

Last week Friday, We were told to write a story about Goldilocks but we have to take it in our own ways e.g instead of Goldilocks you can have Smelly-locks you know like be creative. That was our task. I really enjoyed this task.

Gangster-locks

Wass up my name is Brittany, but everyone calls me Gangster-locks cause I don’t really like my name…..it’s too GIRLY. Also I’m 16 years old. I am known for the world’s greatest burglar. Let’s get on with this story if that’s how writers start their stories but who

cares…..probably my teacher….oh who cares.

So I was coming from the bank and no, I wasn’t getting money out from my mums card to buy some cigarettes, I was holding the bank up. Then I headed to the South East Forest, I ran as fast as I could because the police was on my leash and South East Forest  was the only location I knew I could lose them. After losing the cops I just realised  that I was LOST!!!!

After 3 days..(3 days I know right) of being lost in a forest I was hungry, I was sad and I needed to rob a Rich Mansion. Suddenly BOOM!!!! A Rich Mansion my prayers had been answered.Then I thought to myself should carry on what I have been doing for these past 16 years or should I be the good guy……TO BE CONTINUED!!!!!!!

So that was the end of my story
